Family Partnership for Special Education is a school-based partnership program designed to bring families, educators, and school leadership together to strengthen the special education experience.
Inspired by the community-building approach of parent-teacher organizations, our program creates a dedicated space for families of students receiving special education services to learn, connect, share their perspectives, and collaborate with their schools.
Through parent education, meaningful communication, and collaborative improvement projects, we help participating schools build stronger relationships with families and create opportunities for positive, lasting change.

Educate
Help families better understand special education processes, services, resources, and their role in their child's education.
Listen
Create opportunities for families to share feedback, experiences, and ideas about school-wide needs and opportunities.
Collaborate
Bring families, educators, and school leadership together to identify shared goals and strengthen communication.
Develop Solutions
Turn shared needs and ideas into practical projects, resources, and recommendations for participating schools.
Support Progress
Work alongside participating schools to support approved improvements and evaluate the Partnership's impact.
Every school community is different. Family Partnership for Special Education provides a structured program that participating schools can implement to create meaningful opportunities for family engagement and collaboration in the special education element.
Connect. Families, educators, and school representatives come together through a local Family Partnership.
Learn. Participants explore special education topics through educational discussions, resources, and opportunities to ask questions .
Share. Families provide feedback about common experiences, resources, communication, and school-wide opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate. Partnership members identify shared priorities and develop practical projects or recommendations.
Grow. Families and schools work together to support approved initiatives, review progress, and strengthen the Partnership over time.
Our program focuses on education, collaboration, and school-wide improvement. Individual student decisions remain with the appropriate school teams and established special education processes.
We are beginning our first local Family Partnership in collaboration with Burleson ISD.
Families and caregivers of students receiving special education services will have opportunities to connect, learn, share feedback, and collaborate with participating educators and district staff.
